Exam Proctoring and Technology
All exams must be proctored unless your instructor states otherwise.
Online students are expected to take exams on the same day they are administered to on-campus students, unless prior approval is granted by the course instructor. Depending on the course, online students may be required to use one of two online proctoring services: ProctorU Live or Honorlock. In-person proctoring at an approved testing center is only available for PDF-style exams.
Academic Integrity
You are responsible for maintaining the integrity of your exam. To avoid suspicion or potential flags, ensure your camera is correctly positioned, your workspace is clear and only approved materials are visible at all times. Keep your hands, calculator and materials in view. If academic dishonesty cannot be ruled out from the exam recording, it may be treated as a breach of integrity.
CEM follows a zero-tolerance policy regarding academic dishonesty. If misconduct is suspected and cannot be ruled out from the exam recording, serious consequences may follow. Depending on the severity of the occurrence the outcomes include:
- Receiving a zero on the assignment or exam
- Receiving an “F” for the course
- Dismissal from the University

ProctorU Live+
ProctorU Live+ is an online live person proctoring service paid for by the institution. Check your BlackBoard course site to determine the type of exam that will be administered. Within the College of Engineering and Mines (CEM), there are two possible exam styles: PDF-style exams and electronic-style exams.
You must schedule your exam at least 72 hours in advance. It is strongly recommended to schedule as early as possible once exam times are available to secure a time slot that fits your schedule.
A valid, non-expired, government-issued photo ID is required at the time of testing.
A full room scan is required before the exam begins to ensure the testing environment is secure.
