Exam Proctoring and Technology

All exams must be proctored unless your instructor states otherwise.

Online students are expected to take exams on the same day they are administered to on-campus students, unless prior approval is granted by the course instructor.

Depending on the course, online students may be required to use:

  • ProctorU Live+ or In-Person Testing Center for PDF-style exams
  • Honorlock for electronic-style exams.

Check your Blackboard course site and/or course syllabus to confirm the exam type.

All virtual proctoring will require:

  • A valid, non-expired, government-issued photo ID at the time of testing.
  • A full room scan before the exam begins to ensure the testing environment is secure.

Academic Integrity

You are responsible for maintaining the integrity of your exam. To avoid suspicion or potential flags; ensure your camera is positioned correctly, your workspace is clear and visible. Keep your hands, calculator and materials in view at all times. If academic dishonesty cannot be ruled out based on the exam recording, it may be treated as a breach of integrity.

CEM follows a zero-tolerance policy regarding academic dishonesty. If misconduct is suspected and cannot be ruled out from the exam recording, serious consequences may follow. Depending on the severity of the occurrence the outcomes include:

  • Receiving a zero on the assignment or exam
  • Receiving an “F” for the course
  • Dismissal from the University

Refer to the UND Code of Student Life for additional details and links.

ProctorU Live+

ProctorU Live+ provides live, online proctoring for our PDF-style exams. Most College of Engineering and Mines exams are PDF-style, which involves showing your work through calculations, solving complex problems, drawing diagrams and similar tasks.
