Capabilities

C2SR’ primary objectives are to:

1. Conduct basic and applied research to enhance the security of critical infrastructures, assets, or information resources.
2. Increase extra-mural dollars in research funding to thrusts within cyber security by enabling pathways from lab or in-house discoveries to commercialization by working with federal, state, and national labs, communities, and industries.
3. Provide information and guidance to government, industry, non-profit organizations, and individuals attempting to solve information cyber security problems.
4. Provide training in research activities fostering creative intellect for discoveries in areas within cyber security to develop well-rounded next-generation cyber scholars.
5. Act as a resource and liaison for research activities related to cyber security areas for the UND campus, state, and throughout the U.S.
6. Coordinate the campus-wide educational, research, outreach, and policy activities related to cyber defense/security or operations.

Dr. Prakash Ranganathan

Cybersecurity is one of the defining issues of our time. Can we keep our networks, devices, and critical systems open, safe, and secure while maintaining personal privacy?

Cutting-edge research activities at the universities and industry-supported social and technical activities - as well as education and workforce development programs - are needed to protect our nation and personal security. October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. We organize annual events such as CARS Symposium, C2SR Workshop, and Colloquia Series aims to familiarize ourselves with emerging cyber issues, cyber hygiene, and best practices to avoid exploitations of data or personal identities or asset protection. This is the perfect time of year for individuals, businesses, and other organizations to do their part to protect their networks, devices, and data from those threats. As Information technology advances, several fields: communications technologies, medical devices, manufacturing, banking, agricultural sectors, and intelligent energy grids are changing the landscape of the nation’s critical infrastructure and business networks as we know it. Rapidly evolving technology comes rapidly advancing threats, so we need to be prepared to address them. To conclude, Cyber Security is a shared responsibility, so let’s work together and form new partnerships!
