Our mission is to provide process engineering expertise to a wide variety of stakeholders to bridge the gap between fundamental research and commercialization.
By bridging the gap between fundamental research and applied research, development and commercialization, UND's Center for Process Engineering Research (CPER) aims to drive innovation and facilitate the seamless transition of groundbreaking discoveries into practical real-world applications.
By fostering an environment that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, technology transfer, and industry engagement, CPER aims to create economic development in North Dakota, the United States and world.
CPER Goals & Objectives
- Innovate to Develop Novel Solutions: Adopt process engineering principles to address key challenges and opportunities that are highly aligned with UND’s strategic plan and North Dakota’s economy, with a balance between fundamental and applied research.
- Support Small Business and Startups: Support process design, testing, optimization, and scale-up and facilitate technology transfer for commercial technologies.
- Conduct State-of-the-Art Research: Design, create and build state-of-the-art facilities with cutting-edge research equipment to support high-quality research activities and pursue many avenues of competitive research funding supported by strategic partnerships.
- Engage Industry Partnerships:Actively engage with local, regional, and national industries to establish collaborative partnerships.
- Educate and Train the Workforce: Provide practical, hands-on education and training opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals in the field of process engineering to meet the increasing demands of industry for a skilled workforce.
- Contribute to Policy Development: Provide process engineering and technology insights to policymakers for the development and implementation of smart policies at the local, state, and national levels.
