Center for Water Research

Our mission is to conduct cutting-edge water resources research, develop projects providing solutions for water resources problems and provide education at various levels.

Runoff

The Center for Water Research (CWR) will excel in hydrologic observations and modeling, offering mentorship, skills training and job opportunities.

CWR is dedicated to advancing sustainable management and innovative water resources research in North Dakota and globally. Our mission is to provide scientific insights, promote collaborative partnerships, and develop practical solutions to address water challenges facing communities, ecosystems, and economies. Through leading-edge research, education, and outreach, we strive to enhance water quality, ensure equitable access, and foster resilience against water scarcity and climate impacts for current and future generations.

Goals & Objectives

Conduct Innovative Research

Advance scientific knowledge and technology related to water resources globally, focusing on sustainable practices, conservation.

Collaborate with Stakeholders

Development partnerships with Federal, State, and Tribal government agencies, academic institutions, non-profits, and local communities.

Enhance Education and Outreach

Provide educational programs and resources to raise awareness about water issues, engage stakeholders, and foster a culture of water stewardship.

Engage in Policy Advocacy and Development

Advocate for evidence based water policy that promotes sustainability, equity, and environmental protection at local, Tribal, State, Federal and globally.

Water Quality and Accessibility

Implement research and initiatives aimed at improving water quality and ensuring equitable access to safe drinking water for all communities.

Climate Resilience

Investigate the impacts of climate change on water resources and develop adaptive strategies to enhance community resilience.

Research Areas of Interest

CWR has five primary research thrusts and is positioning to capitalize on new emerging areas.
