National Network
A national network, local support.
The Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) is a program administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The program’s primary mission is to strengthen and empower small and medium-sized U.S. manufacturers through state-designated MEP Centers located across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico. The program comprises nearly 1,400 trusted manufacturing advisors and experts at more than 450 MEP service locations, providing any U.S. manufacturer with access to resources they need to succeed.
Each state and territory operates one MEP Center, backed by a network of about 1,200 field staff and thousands of third-party experts. This structure allows NIST to coordinate a national strategy while each center tailors its services to the manufacturers in its region. Centers report directly to NIST and deliver data-driven services that produce measurable results, including sales growth, cost savings, job creation and new investment. By leveraging existing state and university assets, MEP Centers maximize their impact and keep support close to the manufacturers who need it.
