Student Resources
Comprehensive Exam
Your comprehensive exam is an oral presentation. You should take it after completing at least 45 credits of coursework, or when you have about two to three semesters left in your program. This exam will cover the main courses you've taken for your degree and how they apply to your research.
- The exam will be administered by at least three graduate faculty members from the CEM Energy Studies Department and its Faculty Affiliates. Candidates who fail the exam will be allowed one opportunity to repeat the exam.
- The re-examination must take place no later than 13 months after the initial exam attempt. Therefore, students are required to apply principles and methodologies and understanding from Energy Studies courses to assess and analyze the research problem statement.
- The Advisory Committee Chair will coordinate the design of the examination.
