Mechanical Engineering Research Projects
The CALCULATE project is an NSF funded initiative aimed at improving engineering student persistence. The investigation focuses on leveraging student interest in engineering to promote deeper learning in calculus by creating modules that require students to apply calculus concepts to solve real world engineering problems. The engineering content is delivered by peer mentors, junior and senior engineering students. The mentors meet with calculus students in a small group setting on a weekly basis to work through the modules. During these meetings students receive real-time feedback on their problem solving techniques as well as a glimpse at the methods used by others.
To learn more or get sample module please check out the CALCULATE website here.
