Electrical Engineering Department Chair Search
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of North Dakota (UND) invites applications for the position of department chair (full professor) starting on or before August 16, 2012. Our mission recognizes the importance of combining excellence in teaching with a vibrant research program. The School of Engineering and Mines has begun implementing a new strategic plan to guide the direction of the school. The plan is built on a vision of excellence in teaching, research and service, a strong commitment to the community and alumni and a collaborative work environment. This framework provides an excellent opportunity for the new chair to formulate future direction and growth of the department.
A Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or closely related field is required. Strong evidence of leadership and administrative capabilities is required, as is experience in developing a sustainable research program. A passion for teaching excellence in core electrical engineering undergraduate and graduate courses is necessary. The candidate should have a clear vision, strong communication skills, and experience with collaborative projects and consensus building. Research areas are open: preference will be given to those that support/complement biomedical engineering, power & energy, communications, computer science/engineering, and avionics/unmanned aerospace systems.
