Petroleum Engineering Inaugural Energy Bus Tour 2012
As an on-going effort to connect students, faculty and staff with the energy activities of North Dakota, the Department of Petroleum Engineering conducted the Inaugural Energy Bus Tour. During the October 20th tour, participants were able to see first-hand the oil and gas infrastructure, exploitation and production facilities in the Williston Basin.
This semester's one-day tour was sponsored by Murex Petroleum Corporation. Based in Houston, Texas, Murex Petroleum Corporation has had a long history in the state and is providing wonderful opportunities for our students and faculty. Don Kessel, Vice President of Murex and North Dakota native was on-site to greet this years tour participants.
During the field visit, Precision Drilling provided access to all areas of a large drilling operation. Packers Plus Energy Services, Inc. gave us a look at the downhole tools used in the hydraulic fracturing process. In addition to sponsoring this years tour, Murex Petroleum Corporation provided access for our students, faculty and staff to view the simultaneous hydraulic fracturing operation of two nearby wells operated by Nabors.
We would like to thank all involved with the planning and execution of the Inaugural Energy Bus Tour. Also thank you to Murex Petroleum Corporation and Don Kessel.
