Prakash Ranganathan, Ph.D.
Biography. Dr. Prakash Ranganathan is currently an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, and also the Director for Cyber Security Programs, and Data Energy Cyber and Systems (DECS) Laboratory at the University of North Dakota (UND). His research activities involve identifying solution to challenges on topics in smart grids, cyber security, data science, uncertainty quantification, co-ordination of small scale (s-UAS) in swarm environments, and verification and validations techniques. He has over 12 years of higher education experience as an engineering educator, and as a Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and Optimization researcher. He is currently serving in PI/Co-PIs for several grants (includes federal/state/industry/local) aggregating to over $1 million dollars in externally funded awards. Dr. Ranganathan also plays leadership role on cyber educational and research initiatives for North Dakota University System (NDUS). Dr. Ranganathan received the College of Engineering and Mines (CEM) Dean’s Outstanding Faculty Award in 2018, North Dakota Spirit Faculty Achievement Award in 2013 from UND Alumni Foundation recognizing his significant contribution in teaching, research, and service. He is also a recipient of Public Scholar Award in 2014 from center for Community Engagement. He received his PhD in Software Engineering from North Dakota State University (NDSU) in 2013, and MS in Electrical Engineering in 2005 from NDSU. Dr. Ranganathan also play a mentorship role for several native American students and tribal college faculty across the tribal reservations in the State of North Dakota for the last 15 years to realize the benefits and significance of STEM careers.
