•Design, analysis, and construction of concrete chimneys for power plants and industries. Diameters of 60 ft and heights of 600 ft were typical, though bigger chimneys up to about 90 ft diameter and 1000 ft high were also built.
•Brick and fiber glass reinforced plastic (FRP) liners for the outer concrete chimney columns.
•Material properties of FRP at normal and high temperatures.
•Design and fabrication of construction equipment, e.g., scaffolding, forms, derricks, grillages, grip hoists, jacks, etc.
•Field trips to inspect construction.
