Combined BS/MS Degree
To encourage undergraduate engineering students to extend their studies to include a graduate degree, the College of Engineering and Mines has a combined program. The intention of the combined program is to allow qualified students to complete requirements for both a baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree in one year beyond the time required to complete the baccalaureate degree. This program allows students to designate two three-credit graduate courses to count for both degrees. The selected courses must have graduate course standing and be designated when a student requests admission to the program.
Students may be admitted to the engineering combined degree program after the completion of 95 credit hours towards the bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 and before completion of the bachelor’s degree. The two three-credit hour courses designated for both degrees must not have been completed at the time of application and they must have graduate course standing. The student is admitted to the Graduate School on completion of 125 credit hours towards the bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Students in the program may opt to be awarded their bachelor’s and master’s degrees sequentially or at the same time.
Please see Dr. Bowman or your academic advisor if you are interested in applying for the Combined Program. Applications must be completed by:
August 15 for Fall Semester Admittance
December 15 for Spring Semester Admittance
April 15 for Summer Semester Admittance
